Born and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Sherman Tung began his undergraduate Microbiology and Immunology program at the University of British Columbia. In 2002, Dr. Tung was accepted into the Doctor of Optometry Program at the Illinois College of Optometry. In 2006, Dr. Tung graduated from Illinois College of Optometry with Cum Laude Honours; he was also a part of the Tomb & Key Honours and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honours Fraternities.
After he graduated from ICO, he was accepted into a prestigious residency program at Illinois Eye Institute specialising in Ocular Disease/Primary Care. He had the unique opportunity to work with the world-renowned ophthalmologists from the University Of Chicago. After his residency, he continued to excel by obtaining his fellowship at the American Academy of Optometry; approximately only 150 of the 7500 Optometrists in Canada have this special distinction. Dr. Tung is also involved with BC Association of Optometrists. He is currently the President of the BC Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Tung is a sports enthusiast. He plays roller hockey, Ultimate Frisbee and golf. He enjoys watching Canucks’ Hockey Games and attends as many home ice games as possible throughout the season. During his spare time, he enjoys dining out at restaurants and watching movies.
Dr. Tung can speak English and Cantonese fluently.
