It’s been a while since I had a chance to blog. I just came back from Hong Kong and Tokyo and a lot of children were wearing glasses. Their school system requires reading and writing at the age of 3 and the children spend a lot of time on computer devices. Here are some helpful tips that might help your children prevent computer vision syndrome.
1. 20/20/20 rule. After 20 mins with close up work, take a 20 second break and look at something that is 20 feet away. This helps relax your focusing system
2. Make sure your intensity of your screen matches your background lighting. Don’t read in a dark room because that can place a lot of strain on your focusing system.
3. Spend at least 12-14 hours a week outdoors. Some studies have shown that this reduces the progression of nearsightedness.
It’s spring break and it’s the best time to bring your children in for an eye exam. Remember it’s fully covered by your carecard at Avenue Eyecare
