New Misight Spectacle lenses for Myopia Management

New Misight Spectacle lenses for Myopia Management

We’re excited to announce that we’ve been selected among a few clinics in BC to pilot the launch of a new myopia management option called Misight Spectacle Lenses.  Theses lenses are powered by Diffusion Optics Technology and are clinically shown to slow the progression of myopia in children as young as 6 years old.

These lenses use a unique technology that helps scatter light to reduce retinal contrast. High contrast light is believed to stimulate excessive eye growth and worsening myopia (nearsightedness). The Cypress study followed children over a 2 year period wearing Misight Spectacle Lenses full time.  The lenses were shown to slow the progression of myopia by 59%. These lenses are intended to be worn full time (12 hours a day).

Who is a candidate for Misight spectacles?

Children 6 and up who have progressing myopia and can wear glasses full time.

What is unique about this lens?

It uses a novel technology called Diffusion Optics Technology, is available with transitions (lens darkens when activated by UV outdoors), and has a wide prescription availability.  It’s made of a durable and light material called Trivex.
