October is Eye Health Month

October is upon us and it’s the month for Canadian Thanksgiving and Halloween.  But did you know it’s also Eye Health Month.  At Avenue Eyecare, we are raising awareness of how important is to get your eyes checked on a regular basis.  The frequency of eye exams varies upon age groups and individual patient needs. As eye care professionals, Optometrists diagnose eye diseases and detect ocular conditions related to systemic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. They are the front line of eye-health care in Canada.

Did you know that…….

1. 1 in 7 Canadians will be diagnosed with an eye disease in their lifetime, even those with 20/20 vision

2. Almost half of patients (48.3{4422c3e9d6d956ffe17c4a9703f8867adf328a271a08c00de098d82d34d0cfb5}) with eye diseases are asymptomatic

Here are some video from an ad campaign from The Canadian Associations of Optometrist and the BCAO. Check it out!
